The DTI 3/35 Gen 2 is Zeiss's mid-range handheld thermal. It uses a 384×288, 17 µm detector quoted at 35 mK behind a 35 mm F1.0 lens, giving a 2.4x base magnification, an 11° field of view, digital zoom to 9.6x and a stated detection range of 1,300 m. The Gen 2 replaced the original DTI 3/35's 1280×960 LCOS display with a 1024×768 AMOLED, and tidied the body.
It records photo and video, streams over Wi-Fi to the Zeiss Hunting app, and runs about 8 hours on a permanently installed battery charged over USB. Weight is 420 g at 193 mm long. The retailer page describes it as splash-proof without an IP code, so none is recorded.
It suits buyers who value Zeiss's optics, menus and service over the raw sensor figures: at this price several rivals offer 12 µm sensors with lower NETD. Because the battery is not removable, long nights need a power bank.
