Type: Night vision binoculars Brand: Nightfox
The Vulpes (sold as the Vulpes HD Rangefinder) is a digital night vision binocular with a 6x optical magnification, 3x digital zoom and a 10.5° field of view, built around a 1920×1080 sensor and an F1.3 lens. A Class 1M laser rangefinder reads to 200 m, and a powerful 5.6 W 850 nm illuminator gives a stated night range of 200 m.
It has a 3-inch 640×360 display, records 1080p video at 30 frames per second (20 at low light) with audio and stills to a supplied 32 GB microSD card, and has no Wi-Fi. Power is two 18650 cells (6,400 mAh total) charged over USB, rated at 6 hours of mixed infrared use. It is 197 mm long and 635 g. Nightfox lists an RRP of £299.99.
It suits watching from a fixed spot at 50–200 m — a field edge, a feeding station — where magnification and a distance readout are useful. The narrow view makes it poor at finding things close by.
