Type: Night vision goggles Brand: Nightfox
The Swift is a two-eyepiece digital night vision goggle with a single 20 mm F1.4 objective and a 640×480 sensor. Magnification is 1x with a 2x digital zoom, the field of view is 34° (Nightfox's marketing copy says 40°) and the stated night range with the 2 W 850 nm illuminator is 70 m. It has a 320×240 TFT display and does not record or connect to a phone.
The built-in 3,000 mAh battery is rated at 3 hours of mixed infrared use and the unit can run while charging over micro-USB. It is 170 mm wide and 360 g. Nightfox lists an RRP of £139.99; newer Swift 2, Swift 2 Pro and Swift Max models sit alongside it.
It suits the garden, a sett at 20 m and children's camping trips: a low-cost way to see in the dark hands-free from a fixed spot. The short battery, low-resolution sensor and lack of recording are the limits.
