Type: Night vision goggles Brand: AGM
The NVG-40 NW1 is a binocular night vision goggle built around two Gen 2+ image intensifier tubes with white phosphor screens (AGM's "NW1" grade, quoted at 61–64 lp/mm resolution and a figure of merit of 1,400–1,600). Each tube has its own 27 mm F1.3 objective and eyepiece; magnification is 1x and the field of view is 40°, so it can be walked with when mounted on a helmet or head harness.
Being a tube device it needs no screen and no processing: there is no recording and no Wi-Fi. A built-in infrared illuminator helps in complete darkness. It runs about 20 hours on a single CR123A or AA cell, or 80 hours with the optional external pack. Weight is 645 g. Neither page fetched states a waterproof rating.
It suits walking, head-mounted use and passive observation — the things digital goggles do poorly — at a price several times that of any digital unit. AGM's EU store lists the green-phosphor AP variant; the NW1 is sold through European dealers.
