The Unitec PBS-7 is a military specification night vision goggle now available for civilian use. Very similar in styling to its Military counterpart AN/PVS-7, the PBS-7 uses a high performance DEP- Photonis High Performance image intensifier tube, which gives results that compare favourably with US Gen 3 tubes (but are freely exportable within EU countries). The PBS-7 is made of composites with aluminium inserts in order to keep weight to a minimum, and is sturdy and compact, but very tough. The highest quality glass is used in the lenses, ensuring that the maximum amount of light is transmitted through to the image intensifier, and that the picture is bright, clear and distortion-free.
A simple and reliable twist switch controls the unit power and IR illuminator. The Infra-Red illuminator has a three-stage power setting and variable focus for spot/flood use. The PBS-7 is waterproof and can be submerged to a depth of two metres for two hours.
